Likely one of the most respectful cartoon maps of the nation's capital. this work by Ruth Taylor provides an interesting view of Washington D.C. and the locations of important places within. While actual streets are not depicted. the primary avenues. squares. and boulevards are shows as a line of trees. Some noteworthy landmarks include the Capital building and White House. Bureau of Engraving and Printing. U.S. Treasury. Georgetown University. Dupont Circle (embassies). Congressional Library. the home of Robert E. Lee. and the Lincoln Memorial.

This fascinating pictorial map of Washington D.C. was published in 1935 by Ruth Taylor. It appeared in the atlas published by Taylor and her husband Frank Taylor entitled Our U.S.A. - a Gay Geography. with the maps done by Ruth and the text by her husband. The map provides local color and flavor. depicting cultural stereotypes. agriculture. industries and activities of the district.
