After reading through the seller offerings, I chose a seller who offered the 1953 hardcover edition and that's what I received. As a life long gardener, it's a beautiful legacy.While not the original Smithsonian folios that cost $$$ and are highly collectible, this lovely hardcover edition is a large format, affordable collectible. The binding is tight and the pages are completely clean.The color plates by Mary Vaux-Wolcott are exquisite and a fantastic reference as I walk the prairies and mountains in search of plants to cultivate. This book will guide me as I build a new garden of only American wildflowers.
