This a fine book by Edward Drake of London detailing the accounts of many Voyages and Travels throughout history up until the mid-18th century. As best described in the title page. this book is a comprehending account of whatever is curios in the government. commerce. natural history. customs. marriages. funerals. and other ceremonies of most nations in the known world. Such accounts include discoveries. shipwrecks. settlements. conquests. battles. hurricanes. sieges. tortures. wonderful escapes. and strange deliverances both by sea and land.

Sixty-two plates of maps and prints illustrate the work from cover to cover. Some such works include an eclipse observed by Caribbean natives. predicted by Columbus. which helped to convince them that he was some sort of deity. a depiction of Montezuma's dead body sent out by Cortes to the Mexicans. and a view of an erupting mount Vesuvius in the kingdom of Naples.  

Condition: Black leather spine with gold lettering and 5 raised bands. Front cover is becoming detached in the lower portion of the book. Black and red ink title page. Interior pages are slightly darkened with areas of light foxing and damp staining in the outside margin of a few pages. No significant tears excepts for one that enters the top right corner of a map of Germany.
